The Serra do Barbanza runs along the peninsula of the same name and acts as a natural boundary between the Rias of Arousa and Muros e Noia.

This steep mountain range rises up from sea level to heights of over 600 metres. Wild animals graze on its slopes, cohabiting with megalithic remains and magnificent natural scenic viewpoints.

The municipality of A Pobra do Caramiñal is home to the best-known of them all – the scenic viewpoint of A Curota. Located at 512 metres above sea level, this place offers one of the best views in all of Galicia – a landscape that stretches from the Fisterra Lighthouse to the Cíes Islands.

In acknowledgement of its scenic and natural value, it was declared Natural Site of Tourist Interest.
