The River Xallas, in the final stretch of its journey to the sea, runs over the granite slopes of Monte Pindo until reaching the town of O Ézaro where it meets the Atlantic Ocean in a truly unique manner, as there are very few rivers in the world that enter the sea as a waterfall.

The construction of several reservoirs along the river hindered the sight of this natural spectacle, which could only be seen when the dams were opened. The river flow was restored in 2011 and the waterfall can be enjoyed all year round.

Thanks to the lighting installation at the Fervenza do Ézaro, summer nights offer a stunning view of the waterfall.
